Toulouse, 7 January 2026 — Avio Air is pleased to announce that its European Technology Development Centre (E-TDC) has been awarded a five-year, €120 million research mandate covering sustainable aviation fuels, hybrid-electric propulsion, and next-generation composite airframes.

The mandate, co-funded by the governments of France, Germany, and the Netherlands, positions the E-TDC as one of Europe's three principal aerospace research hubs. Work will be conducted across our Toulouse headquarters and two new satellite facilities to be opened in Hamburg and Delft by Q3 2026.

"This is a vote of confidence in European sovereign aerospace," said Avio Air's Chief Technology Officer. "Our continent's ability to design, build, and certify advanced aircraft without external dependencies is not a nice-to-have. It is the prerequisite for everything else we do."

Specific programmes covered by the mandate include: SAF-compatible engine optimisation (in partnership with two European engine OEMs), a hybrid-electric regional concept airframe targeting first flight in 2028, and continued development of our Horizon predictive-maintenance platform.
